Katherine Ognyanova is a Doctoral Candidate at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, University of Southern California. She does research with a broad focus on transformations of the media system and social aspects of technology. Prior to joining a doctoral program, Katherine worked on a wide range of projects in related areas: new media, participatory platforms, telecom regulation and digital policy. Her doctoral thesis explores the agenda diversity of traditional and new media, applying a network-theoretical perspective.

Katherine received her B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Sofia. Her M.A. degree from the same university is in Virtual Culture. At USC, Katherine is investigating the role that online tools play in social organization, public participation, and academic collaborations. She is a member of several research teams studying those issues: the Metamorphosis project, the Annenberg Networks Network, and the Center for the Digital Future.
